When playing Undead Siege, it's very important - especially if you're playing on Hard Mode - that you know beforehand what turrets you're going to be aiming to get. There are 8 final options in total, and each one requires a different set of turrets and materials in order to upgrade to that specific turret. The following information will help you in your turret game in Undead Siege.
Build 1 Turret (Fully) At A Time.
You should build 1 turret fully at a time. What this means is that you build your first turret, you upgrade it to the final turret, and then you start on the next turret.
The exception to this rule is if you have all of the materials needed for a different turret you want to build and can't finish your initial turret yet. Go ahead and build the next one, as long as building it won't get in the way of finishing your original turret later on.
Choosing Your Final Turrets
You can have 4 turrets total. If you want to complete all of the quests, there are four quests that require you to build turrets, which is shown in the screenshot here:
As you can see, you need to build 30 Missile Turrets, 30 Thunder Turrets, 30 Cannon Turrets, and 20 Tar Grenade Turrets.
If you have already finished these quests, or if you aren't interested in them at all, then I personally recommend that you build 4x Missile Turrets, as they seem to do the best. If you find that you prefer other turrets more, then, by all means, go for it! The point is that you need to know which turrets you'll be going for as you start the game.
Turret Tree
This is the Turret Tree. The 8 turrets at the bottom of the tree (in purple) are the highest-leveled turrets. These are the turrets that you need to be aiming to have by the end (4 in total), and to build these turrets, you need to build the correct turrets to upgrade, as shown by the tree.
For example, the Sentry Turret is the first turret you can build. If you upgrade that into the Grenade Turret, and if you upgrade that into the Grenade Turret II, your final option is between the Double Grenade Turret and the Missile Turret. On the other hand, if you upgrade your Grenade Turret to a Fire Grenade Turret, you have the option between Fire Grenade Turret II and Tar Grenade Turret.
Materials
It's also important to know what materials are required to build the turrets you're trying to build so that you can focus on picking the right upgrade boxes up.
Note: Although it's true that you should focus on picking up the right materials, if you have enough room, you should consider picking up extra materials so that you can put them in the Warehouse for your teammates to take. After all, teamwork makes the dream work, and you want to succeed, don't you?

Grenade Turrets:
These charts show the materials needed for each final turret, plus the turrets that it takes to build that final turret. For example, under the Grenade Turrets, if you'll look at the red chart (the Missile Turret chart), you'll see that to build the Missile Turret, you need a total of 5 Pedestal lvl. 1s, 1 Pedestal lvl. 2, and 5 Grenade Mods, plus 6,000 aether.
