Citron Deck: "Nuts n' Beans Team-Up"

Writer's picture: RiscloverRisclover

This Citron deck has been my go-to deck as of late because of how versatile it is.

Concept

This deck has three main routes that you can take: Team-Up, Nuts, and Beans (and, of course, a combination of any of the aforementioned), so no matter what you pull, you aren't stuck, and no matter where you end up, there are multiple ways to win.

The main "faction" of this deck is Team-Up, which allows us to fill up the board and bombard the enemy.

The "subfactions" of this deck are Nuts and Beans, which both go in the direction of "when x happens, deal damage to the enemy hero".

Cards

Main Cards

  1. Go Nuts: This guy is what I consider to be the hero of this deck.

  2. Navy Bean: The hero of the 'Beans' faction.

  3. Mirror-Nut: The hero of the 'Nuts' faction.

  4. Three Nuts:

Support Cards

  1. Wall Nut

  2. Water Chestnut

  3. Admiral Navy Bean

  4. Cosmic Bean

Tricks and Environments

One of the beautiful things about this deck is that none of the tricks and environments are technically required, so if you have your personal favorites and they aren't listed below, you are free to try them with this deck. However, I strongly suggest including the following:

Tricks

  1. Grave Mistake

  2. Banana Mover

Environments

  1. Spikeweed Sector

  2. Force Field

How to Play This Deck

Like I mentioned at the beginning of this guide, there are multiple ways you can go in terms of the cards you play.

Initial Cards

  1. Aim to pull Go Nuts. If you pull him, save him.

    1. If you do pull Go Nuts, you want your other cards to be team-up Support cards. If you pull these types of cards, don't trade them in.

      1. If you start trading in cards and can't seem to get team-up cards, try to make some quick decision-making and save cards that will protect your hero until you can make a proper play.

  2. If you pull Go-Nuts and Three Nuts, even better; your chances of getting some team-up support cards are high, so don't fret if you don't pull them in your initial hand.

  3. If you don't pull Go Nuts, your next option is to see what you are pulling and try to go with a certain theme.

    1. For example, if you have a Wall Nut, a Navy Bean, a Cosmic Bean, and an Admiral Navy Bean, you might as well go Beans for now, right? Trade in that Wall Nut in the hopes of pulling something Bean-themed.

    2. On the other hand, if you happen to pull a Mirror-Nut, aim for Nuts.

    3. If you pull a Go Nuts card, aim for cheap team-up support cards.

First Few Rounds

While how you play this deck is up to you, I typically take it slow the first few rounds, especially if I have Go Nuts and/or Three Nuts in my hand already. They are both 3-cost cards, but when I only have one, I wait until turn 4, 5, or even 6 to ensure they aren't a waste.

You want to make sure that you play your Go Nuts with something to protect him. A Wall-Nut or Water Chestnut placed in front of him is good, as are cards like the Hero special that protects a Plant for one turn.
